Natural Wool Saddle Blankets Made To Last In Montana's Rugged Outdoors
Natural wool is the perfect material for both horse and rider. The stylish good looks are overshadowed by the functional comfort and easy maintanence of these 100% wool designs. Our saddle blankets won't creap under saddle or pack and will last for years providing trouble free use. We tightly hand spin our yarns so they last longer and our saddle blankets are made primarily with wool from our Navajo Churro sheep. The yarn from these sheep is longer and courser than other varieties and consequently stands up to the wear and tear of trails, heavy loads and long hours. Exactly what horse and rider need in the mountains.
Combine long lasting blankets with easy clean up and care and you have the right blanket for the the job at hand. Our wool blankets can be easily rinsed and hung to dry at the end of a long day on the trail. You will get years of trouble free use from these hand woven designs.
River Run Weaving offers two styles of saddle blanket to choose from:
Standard Saddle Blanket
Our Standard Saddle Blanket generally comes 32 inches by 30 inches but can be made to order in different sizes. This blanket consists of a single layer of tightly spun Navajo Churro yarn. This blanket doesn't walk under saddle and can be hosed off with cold water to keep it clean and looking good.
Filled Saddle Blanket
Our Filled Saddle Blanket is the product of years of refining designs to create the ultimate blanket for those long multi day pack trips in the mountains or long working days in the saddle. The filled saddle blankets essentially consist of two blankets woven together with a wool batting between them. The batting creates ridges which will help keep animals more comfortable and prevents hot spots from occuring by allowing the blanket to breathe more than a standard saddle blanket. These blankets are built to last years of heavy use and they can be easily maintained by simply rinsing with cold water at the end of the trip. These blankets will not walk under the saddle and provide the ultimate in horse comfort with rider style.
